Famous Carnatic Composers - NVR

Nagai V. Ramaswamy - Nagai V. Ramaswamy - Author V. Ramaswamy, now 79 years hails from Nagapattinam, is residing with his son in Bengaluru. He went to Mumbai in 1960 for his career and returned in 1964 to assist his Father in a newly started business. He however chose to continue his career by taking up an assignment in the Steel Factory there.

Again he moved to Mumbai for career progress in 1976 where, his neighbour, a pious lady, mother of his colleague suggested as though it was Mother Neelayadakshi's voice, to worship Devi during Navratri festival on a swing (joola or Oonjal). Since that year 1981, Mother Neelayadakshi has been blessing to keep Her picture in a home-made decorated Joola inviting devotees.

It was after he enjoyed the full glory, beauty and grace of Ambal Neelayadakshi, the consort of Lord Shiva, known as Kayarohaneswarar, when the Deity was taken through the four streets around the temple in a well decorated beautiful chariot accompanied by music and Veda mantras that he was inspired to compose lyrics on Ambal's glory. Kritis composed by Trinity - Shyama Shastri, Muthuswamy Dikshithar and Saint Tyagaraja on Ambal Neelayadakshi Ambal did not reach common folk.

According to him, it is nothing but Her Grace that he gets lyrics in praise of the Deity before the Adipuram festival. He continues to write such songs post-retirement in 2001 from Mumbai. So far he has composed lyrics for 41 songs.

10 songs were selected, tuned to music and recorded by Chennai Violinist Dr. Mullaivasal Chandramouliji and his team.

It was Her Grace that a CD Album titled AMUDHAME KUMUDHAME was placed at the Lotus Feet of the Deity Herself on 15/8/2007 Adipuram Day and released at the hands of Clarinet Everest Vidwan Shri AKC Natarajan. For the benefit of listeners and devotees, these songs are placed at various sites like Musicindiaonline, raaga.com, Sri Sathyasaibaba Trust devotional songs site, Soundcloud and Tamil Brahmins site.

His desire is to make musicians to sing these songs during their concerts and also to extend their support to make further Albums of his other songs.
