nI ennai ALAy - Will you not take me as your slave,
dayavAi - with compassion ?
kankALA - O One carrying a skeleton,
iru mAtavar pADu - who sages with great penance extol !

anupallavi

tAtaki shUDiya tOLA - O One wearing Aathi flowers as a garland on your shoulders !
umai kAdalA - O Beloved of Goddess Uma!
kuncita tALA - O One with a foot lifted/bent in dance!

Note : Aathi is the Bauhinia racemosa tree, with tiny white flowers

oli kaDal viSamuNDa nEyA - O Kind one who consumed the poison from the resounding sea!
sIru puliyin adaL uDaiya tUyA - O Pure one, wearing the skin of a snarling tiger!
meliyum aDiyavar sahAyA - O Helpful one to devotees in distress !
patanjali puli paNi naTarAyA - O Nataraja worshipped by Patanjali and Vyaghrapada!

kAlanai vadai sheida kAlA - O One whose feet destroyed Yama !
kapAlA - O One holding a skull,
puli bAlanai ANDa - who gave your grace to Upamanyu (son of Vyaghrapada) !
anukUlA - O Favourable one ,
vElanai tarum - who gave (us) Lord Muruga (who wields the Vel) !
trishuLA - O One holding a trident,
aindu kOlanai venra - who conquered Manmatha (who has five arrows) !

mUvar paraviya vinOdA - O Wonderful one, praised by the three (Tevaram) saints !
tirunAvalUran viDu tUdA - O Messenger sent by Sundaramurti Nayanar of Tirunavalur!
yAvarum nambina pAdA - O One whose feet are trusted by all !
mahAdEVA kanakasabhai nAthA - O Great god, lord of the Golden Hall of dance!

Note : Sundaramurti requested the Lord to go as a messenger to his wife, to appease her anger.
